Cameramen

Cameramen also known as camera operators; use TV, video or motion picture cameras to record and produce images for film, television, advertisements, music videos, corporate videos, etc. When shooting a film, TV program, news broadcasts or even a commercial, Cameramen take shots from a wide variety of angles to capture it in the best possible way. Professional Cameramen use digital cameras, video cameras, computers and other equipment to capture and edit footage.

 

Cameraman Jobs generally fall under 4 main categories:

 

  • Studio Cameraman has a variety of responsibilities, starting with preparing and setting up equipment prior to filming, which can include tripods, monitors, lighting, cables and headphones. Then the Cameraman will capture the required shots.

  • Field Cameramen are also full-time trouble-shooters constantly dealing with unpredictable and changing conditions.

  • Cinematographer’s: In addition to the actual operation of the camera, a cinematographer is responsible for determining all aspects of how a shot will be captured on film.

  • TV & Film Camera Operators capture images for TV programmes, news items or films using sophisticated equipment. They capture events as they happen and either broadcast them live or record them on tape or film for editing and later broadcast.

Cameraman's main duties include:

  • Supervising the setting up of the camera and other equipment
  • Taking the best shots, by planning, studying scripts, practicing shots and angles, finding solutions to technical and practical problems, and being creative
  • Taking instructions from directors and working from lists of which shots to take.

 

Cameraman Jobs usually require videography and technical training related to camera operation..
